I've been reading more and more research supporting a plant based diet and in my readings I've come across lots of good information. This particular video was extra relevant to me because my wife's family is a family of cowboys who feel not eating meat is crazy. Howard Lyman was a fourth generation farmer from Montana. He raised lots of cows and then got diagnosed with a tumor on his spinal cord. Well, you know if it's on this blog where the story goes from here, but I'll let Howard tell you about the journey himself. Have a watch, it's only about 15 minutes long but maybe it will cause some of you meat eaters to re-think trying a plant based diet.

Kris Carr was diagnosed with cancer and decided to switch to a plant based diet. In this video she talks about her experience and even mentions "The China Study" (great book if you haven't read it). A question I get frequently and I just got it again in an email is, "Why no fish?"
There is lots of information out there to suggest that fish is a healthier meat than chicken or beef but the question becomes, does that mean it's healthy? I found two different articles (both from Dr. John McDougall) that address the dangers in fish. Check the articles out: Fish is Not Health Food Confessions of a Fish Killer Thankfully, seafood has never been my passion but for those of you that enjoy your seafood, hopefully these articles will help you understand the dangers in eating the meat of the sea! Bill was diagnosed with cancer 14 years ago and is still doing wonderful today! Still competing at 50 years-old!! |
